Proper Cold Brew

Proper Cold Brew

Looking for a refreshing, smooth, flavorful coffee that's less acidic than traditional brewing methods. Making incredible cold brew coffee is pretty simple.

Here's a basic recipe

Ingredients:

  • Coarsely ground fresh roasted coffee beans (when ordered request any coffee custom cold brew ground)
  • Cold water

Equipment:

  • 2ea Jar, pitcher or French Press
  • Coffee filter or very fine mesh strainer

Instructions:

  1. Grind the Coffee Beans: Grind your coffee beans coarsely to increase surface area without making coffee dust. This helps prevent over-extraction and bitterness.
  2. Combine Coffee and Water: In your jar or pitcher, combine the coarsely ground coffee and cold water. Proper ratio would be 1lb coffee to 1 gallon of water (ex. 32oz water = 4oz coffee), but you can adjust this based on your preference for strength.
  3. Stir: Gently stir the coffee and water mixture until well combined.
  4. Cover and Steep: Cover the jar or pitcher with a lid. Let it steep at room temperature for 15 to 22 hours.
  5. Strain: After steeping, strain the coffee mixture. You can use a coffee filter or a fine mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth to remove the grounds. You may need to strain it a couple of times to ensure there are no grounds left. The more you strain the longer the cold brew will last and the smoother it will be.
  6. Store: Once strained keep the lid on it and in the fridge. Serve then re-cover and refrigerate when not in use. Will last 2 or 3 days with great flavor.
  7. Enjoy: Remember, cold brew coffee is highly customizable. Try adding a variety of flavors during and after steeping. You can adjust the ratio of coffee to water, and the steeping time to suit your taste preferences. Enjoy experimenting!
